With great pleasure we announce that we have hired Michael Parker as our new Choir Director. Michael officially begins on January 1st. His first Sunday with UUCG will be on January 8. The entire congregation is invited for a “meet and greet” with Michael on Saturday, January 14, from 5:30 – 8:00. This is the night of our monthly “UUCG Family Fun Night” when we gather to share food, fun, and fellowship. All families of all sizes, with or without children, are encouraged to come. Bring your own dinner or food to share.
Michael is a graduate of the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia where he majored in music composition with a double minor in piano and voice. He also completed additional bachelor studies in Modern European History and American History. He was a member of both the Conservatory Choir and the Chamber Choir.
Michael currently teaches Theater Arts at Sutton Middle School in Atlanta, sings in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and is the co-founder and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Live Arts Theatre Company in Norcross, GA. Some of you may be familiar with Michael through his work with the OTC Comedy Improv Troupe. Michael’s musical accomplishments are many, with performances on many respected stages. You can learn more about him and experience his gift for music at our meet and greet on January 14, and, if you’ve thought about joining the choir, this is a good time to give it a try!
Please offer your gratitude to the team who put their hearts, time, and commitment to our vision into our search for our new Choir Director: Lydia Patrick, Shea McQuain, Debra Greenwood, and Bill Benshoof.
