Belief Explorers is a group of curious people interested in the wide variety of spirituality and beliefs. We meet from 12:30 – 1:30PM on the 2nd Sunday of each month, both online via Zoom and in-person. Each month we explore a book, religion, person, or concept chosen at the previous meeting. Meetings are open to all UUCG members, friends, and visitors.
This month, our topic of discussion will be: Human Evolution – Directed or Chaotic?
Last month we talked a little about cosmology and a lot about a view of the universe and human evolution called the Noosphere, which was originally described by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. The framework of the discussion was a video series by spiritual cosmologist Brianne Swimme. Near the end we had a brief conversation about the direction of human evolution and Teilhard’s concept of the Omega Point, a kind of final destination of the Noosphere. In our next installment we will discuss the Omega Point and alternative views of evolution described in some links provided by Barry Heath.
